Accounting BAF 3MT his course introduces students to the fundamental principles and procedures of accounting with emphasis on accounting procedures used in service and merchandising businesses. Students will develop an understanding of the connections between financial analysis, control and decision making in the management of a business, as well as the effects of technology and globalization on accounting procedures and the role of the accountant BAT 4M This course emphasizes study of accounting principles related to financial statements. Students learn about ways in which information in these statements is used in making business decisions, and about the effects on financial statements using different methods of inventory valuation and adjusting and reversing entries. Students also study various means of financing a business and ways in which the strength of a corporation can be determined by reading its annual report. Introduction to Business BBI 2O This first course in business is developed as a survey designed to help students understand and cope with the bewildering array of information they face as they begin to relate and learn about business and its importance to their lives. The functions of operating a business such as marketing, accounting, finance, human resources, and information management are introduced by first focussing on the concept of markets and then further developed by exploring the role of the entrepreneur and skills practised by management. The course then moves from the concept of economics to the concept of finance. First the need to use personal financial products to meet individual and family goals is examined and then the similar but different financial needs of the business enterprise are studied. The course ends where it starts with a focus on markets, this time from a global perspective. The vast opportunities and complex challenges posed by international trade and cultural diversity are explored. BDI 3C This course focuses on ways in which entrepreneurs recognize opportunities, generate ideas, and organize resources to plan successful ventures that enable them to achieve their personal goals by satisfying the needs of others. Students learn about values, traits, and skills most often associated with successful entrepreneurial activity. Marketing BMI 3CThis course introduces the fundamental concepts of marketing, with an emphasis on in-depth analysis of the influence of changes in the economy and global marketplace, trends and issues, and the impact of technology. Students analyse the buying patterns of various consumers, and the effect of marketing strategies, and engage in marketing research. Students also develop and present a marketing plan for a specific product.
